Grey McGown's Tremolino
...sailing on Eagle Mountain Lake, just off the dock at the Fort Worth Boat Club. Since this picture was taken Grey added a new squaretop main, bowsprit and screecher. This boat sports the "tall rig" option, which is a conversion of the Supercat 17 rig. |

| Peter Kelleher's Tremolino, Canada |
The photos of Peter's boat made by her prior owner are on our
homepage.
The boat is one of the few boats in Canada. It is a 1990, half moon amas,
Supercat mast (stronger than Hobie). For an engine Peter uses an electric
Motorguide salt water 43# thrust. This does the job with a solar charger for the battery.
It pushes the boat real well but might not work if one needs power often.

Hull # 80. Built in 1980
David Beekman used to own this boat and here is some of his story: "The rig was stock Hobie 16, as were the amas. We bought the boat in Long Beach, California, about 1990 or so. We day sailed it with our 3 small (at the time) kids, and often took friends along. We've had as many as 8 aboard, but the little critter is badly overloaded with that much weight. When we first got the boat we sailed nearly every weekend, and my wife and I could get the boat assembled and be backing down the ramp in 45 minutes. In 1994 we moved to upper Michigan, and brought the boat along. We live near the Apostle Islands area of Lake Superior, which are spectacular cruising grounds, but with so many kids, cruising was something we never did. Our typical boating vacation was to find a campground with a ramp, and spend a week or so day sailing around the islands and sleeping ashore in the campsite. I have always believed that, dollar for dollar, no other "cruising" multihull can match the Tremolino for performance and comfort. Newick definitely created a classic with this one." |
